About Artist
Born in Gümülcine as the son of a man named Süleyman Efendi, he completed his primary education there before traveling to Edirne for further madrasa studies. In Edirne, he developed an interest in calligraphy and studied under Şeyhzâde İbrâhim Efendi, the esteemed teacher of the Qur’an. Seyyid Ali Efendi, a dervish-like figure from Edirne, is known for his undated An‘am as-Sharif in a private collection and a Qur'an dated 1208 AH/1793-1794 AD housed in the Zeytinoğlu Library, indicating his engagement in manuscript transcription. Although he passed away after this period, the exact date and place of his death are unknown.
