Muhammad Hobe, a South African born calligrapher, graduated and taught at the Waterfall Islamic Institute, Johannesburg. During this period he would often practice calligraphy and in 2007 he met Turkish calligrapher Hilal Kazan who recommended that he study in Istanbul under a master.
In 2009 Muhammad Hobe subsequently moved to Istanbul and studied under the grand master of Arabic calligraphy, Hasan Çelebi, from whom Muhammad received his ijazah in the Thuluth and Naskh scripts in 2013
Muhammad currently lives in Istanbul where he continues to study, teach and produce works of calligraphy.
