About Artist

Hattat Füsun Aksamoglu Dolas was born in Gaziantep in 1976. She completed her primary, secondary and high school education in Gaziantep and university education in Ankara Gazi University, Department of Clothing Industry and Clothing Arts Education & Teaching Department of Fashion Design.

She received his first knowledge of Islamic Calligraphy in 2008 at Gasmek (Gaziantep vocational training course) and received 1-year training in Rika, Nasih and Thuluth scripts. In 2009, she met Hattat Arif YÜCEL and took Nesih and Thuluth lessons, traveling back and forth between Gaziantep and Kahramanmaraş provinces for 4 years. She resumed her Islamic Calligraphy lessons, which she took a break due to health reasons, in 2014 till Reis-ül Hattatin Hasan ÇELEBİ, who lives in Istanbul, and Ferhat KURLU, a well-known student of Hasan Çelebi, accepted her as a student. Afterwards, she travelled back and forth between the provinces of Gaziantep and Istanbul. She completed her education in the classical style in the fields of Naskh, Thuluth and Jali Thuluth, and received her icazeh in 2020 and joined the lineage of Hattats.

She was deemed worthy of the first place in Turkey with her celi thuluth work prepared in the Calligraphy branch of the 'Ten States of Art' competition organized by Balıkesir City Council in 2021. In 2022, she opened the exhibition titled Istanbul-Gaziantep Meeting in Calligraphy Art – VİSAL in Gaziantep with her teacher Ferhat Kurlu. In the same year, she prepared a number of calligraphic meskh for Gaziantep Airport Mosque. She also wrote works for the tomb of Hz. Ukkaşe (r.a), one of the companions of our Prophet (pbuh). In the same year, she participated in the exhibition named ‘From the Dot to Truth - Hasan Çelebi and His Students’ in Bursa with her works. Additionally, she prepared many works and Hilye-i Şerif for private collections. In 2023, she served as a jury member in evaluating Hüsn-i Hat works in the 1st International Traditional Arts Workshop competition organized by Gaziantep University and Metropolitan Municipality. In the same year, she was entitled to receive the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Artist Card. She has been invited by the Sharjah Ministry of Culture to participate in the Calligraphy Biennial, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates in October and November this year, with five works (see United Arab Emirates Sharjah Government Department of Culture Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial – 11th Term 2 October – 30 November 2024).

Again, in November 2024, she was invited to the Unesco Common Heritage of Humanity: Hüsn-i Hat Intangible Cultural Heritage Carriers Exhibition organized by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism by participation of valuable names such as her precious teacher Hasan Çelebi, Fuat Başar, Ayten Tiryaki, who are honoured as Living Human Treasure. She participated as a Carrier of Intangible Cultural Heritage with two of her works.

She currently works as a Hüsn-i Hat calligraphy teacher for the Ministry of National Education and educates a number of students. She is married with a son.
