About Artist
Hattat Hüseyin Şâkir Efendi’nin oğlu olarak H.1231/M. 1816 yılında Eyüp’te doğdu. Tam ismi Mehmed Râşid olmakla beraber, “Eyyûbî Râşid” nâmı ile tanınır. Küçük yaşta hıfzını ikmâl ettiği gibi, Kebecizâde Mehmed Vasfî Efendi’den sülüs ve nesih meşkederek, H. 1242/M. 1827 yılında, henüz onbir yaşında olduğu hâlde icâzet almıştır.
Tahsilini tamamladıktan sonra Hâlid bin
Zeyd Hazretleri’ne türbedâr olmuş, ayrıca Nakş-ı Dil Vâlide Sultan’ın Eyüp’teki
mektebinin yazı hocalığı da, Hâkkâkzâde Mustafa Hilmî Efendi’den sonra ona
tevcih olunmuştur. H. 1297/M. 1879-1880 senesinden sonra vefât etmiş ve Eyüp Sultan
Türbesi’nin arka tarafındaki hazîreye defnedilmiştir.
