Abd al-Rida Jassim Mahdi Qirimli was born in 1947 in Amarah and graduated from a teacher training college. Qirimli tried to learn the art of calligraphy by the book and from time to time presented his exercises to Hadji Mehmed Jabouri. His certificate bears the signatures of leading calligraphers of Iraq: Mahdi Jabouri, Salman Ibrahim and Yousif Thanoon. He gave calligraphy lessons and worked for the Handicraft Center of Baghdad National Education Directorate. He also chaired the Association of Iraqi Calligraphers and was awarded for his work by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Iraq.
